Bob Grove (Road Trippin’ with Bob)
Freelance Tour Guide & Photographer
My love for the American Southwest started long before I became a tour guide. I graduated from Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, often called the “University of the Parks” because of its proximity to some of the most spectacular landscapes in the country. While earning my degree in Public Relations and Marketing, I was surrounded by the red rock deserts, canyon country, and national parks that would eventually shape my career.
That environment sparked a lifelong fascination with the landscapes, geology, and stories of the region. Today, I share that passion with travelers who want to experience the West in a deeper, more meaningful way.
A Life on the Road
For 33 years I’ve guided travelers through the American West while also operating a tourism public relations and marketing business. What began as a love for travel and exploration, and a way to supplement my income in the early days of my agency grew into a passion shaped by open road, remote landscapes, and stories that give each place meaning. I’ve guided thousands of guests through rural towns, national parks, byways, and backroads of the West always aiming to go beyond the overlook to unveil the nooks and crannies of this scenic and adventurous land. For me, great travel isn’t about rushing from stop to stop; it’s about understanding the land, the history, and the people who shaped it.
Experience That Runs Deep
My career has spanned nearly every corner of the travel industry, including airlines, hospitality, rental cars, the ski industry, travel agencies, destination marketing, travel media, and professional tour guiding. I also enjoyed a rewarding chapter as a travel writer, contributing destination stories and feature articles for Sports Guide and Getaway magazines. This broad, behind-the-scenes experience gives me a unique perspective on travel and allows me to anticipate the details that transform a good vacation into a seamless, meaningful, and memorable adventure.
Along the way, I’ve shared travel stories and destination insights through television and radio as a media contributor and co-hosted travel and outdoor radio shows. While I’ve always enjoyed inspiring people through the media, my favorite place to tell stories is still in the places where they happened, standing on the rim of a canyon, beside a rushing river, or beneath a star-filled desert sky. After retiring from the marketing agency, I chose to devote myself full-time to my greatest passions: guiding travelers through the American West and capturing its beauty through photography.
In 2025, after more than four decades of service in the tourism industry, I was honored by being inducted in the Utah Guide Hall of Fame. READ MORE
Photography
I’m a passionate photographer with a background in commercial photography, specializing in tourism promotions for county tourism offices and travel businesses. Photography has trained me to notice light, texture, and detail, and that same eye comes along on every tour whether it’s a quiet sunrise, a dramatic canyon wall, or a moment most people would otherwise drive right past. One of the bonuses for my groups is that I take photos while on the tour that I share with the group after the tour has ended.
